Mumbai bound Secundarabad Duronto derails, two die
Hyderabad: The superfast Duronto Express travelling from Hyderabad to Mumbai derailed at about 2.15 am on Saturday, claiming the lives of two passengers from the city and leaving nine others injured, four of whom suffered grievous injuries.
The victims were identified as Ram Laxmi (Jyoti), 38, from Miyapur and B. Pushpa Latha, 28, from Nizampet. They were part of a group of 22 employees of Rajdeep Associates near Dulapally who were heading to Lonavala for a three-day vacation.
Indian Navy sailor Abdul Ashraf, 21, lost a leg in the mishap. The express train derailed just after crossing the Martur station between Shahbad and Kalburagi on the Solapur division of Central Railway. Train 12220 Secunderabad-Mumbai Lokmanya Tilak Express was supposed to slow down and run through the station without halting there.
