KURTC to launch portal on September 15

Passengers can book tickets online on 42 long-distance low-floor AC buses

Kochi: Now you can book tickets online on 42 long-distance low-floor AC Volvo buses with the Kerala Urban Road Transport Corporation (KURTC) all set to roll out a dedicated website on September 15.

“Passengers can do online reservation by logging on to the online portal. In the first phase, we’ve included 42 low-floor AC Volvo buses. The KURTC inter-district services have received good response so far and almost all the buses are operating on a profit. Besides, the website will have details like routes and time schedules,” said Antony Chacko, who heads both the KURTC and KSRTC (Kerala State Road Transport Corporation).

The KURTC Volvo buses have been deployed in all clusters including Kasargod, Kannur and Kalpetta (Wayanad). Commuters can now enjoy cool comfort to travel within the state and reach their destinations much faster, especially in the town-to-town services.

Chacko said the new website would be of immense help to tourists. “A map consisting of most of the tourist destinations in the state will be given on the website. All that a visitor has to do is to click his choice and the KURTC schedules and timings to that destination will appear,” he said.

“The tour chart is intended for international and domestic tourists. Also, a programme will be rolled out so that a person arriving from Bengaluru, for isnatce, in our multi-axle Volvo buses can visit the tourist destinations in a day or two by travelling in low-floor AC buses locally,” the official said.

Currently, KURTC services are being operated to destinations like Munnar, Thekkady, Nedungandam, Fort Kochi, Wonderla water theme park and Kovalam, among others.
