Kurian can be the role model: Arvind P Mathur
Funding agencies would look for certain specific signs in startups before committing funds, he said

Kochi: Kerala need not be sceptical about the quality of entrepreneurship it can produce as it gave birth to V Kurian, one of the most successful entrepreneurs in independent India, according to Arvind P Mathur, president of the Indian Private Equity and Venture Capital Association.
“I find high quality students coming up with good ideas here, and there is an encouraging ecosystem to support them,” Mr Mathur told Deccan Chronicle on the sidelines of the YES Summit. “NDDB founder V Kurian is their best role model.”
Funding agencies would look for certain specific signs in startups before committing funds, he said.
“The primary conditions are these: the proof of concept must have been done, a prototype must have been created and some traction has been achieved and basic validation occurred,” he said.
“Then we shall look at the team, which should be a meritorious one.” Startup companies have a transparent ecosystem around them, unlike in the past, he pointed out. “They do not have to fight the license raj, and concentrate on their work instead. They must make use of it,” he said.
