26-year-old software engineer dies in bike accident at Rani Circle
Bengaluru: A 26-year-old software engineer was killed on the spot while his friend sustained injuries after their speeding bike hit a road hump and met with an accident at Rani Circle under Devanahalli police station limits on early Saturday. Police said both were under the influence of alcohol when the accident occurred.
The deceased has been identified as Dileep Singh, a resident of Koramangala and his friend Himanshu Soni is undergoing treatment at a private hospital. While Dileep Singh was a native of Bihar, Himanshu Soni is from Madhya Pradesh and both of them were living at a rented accommodation in Koramangala, the police said. Dileep worked at Huawei in Whitefield and Himanshu works at Amadeus Software Labs in Sarjapur Outer Ring Road, Kadubeesanahalli.
According to the police, the incident took place between 4:30 and 4:45 a.m. when the duo after partying and consuming alcohol at their house in Koramangala decided to ride towards Kempegowda International Airport. They then decided to go towards Nandi Hills and at Rani Circle, a speeding Himanshu hit a speed breaker and lost control resulting in their fall. While Himanshu who was wearing a helmet managed to escape with minor injuries, pillion rider Dileep Singh sustained grievous head injuries and died instantly, said the police.
Passersby alerted the police who rushed to the spot and both of them were shifted to a nearby hospital where Dileep Singh was declared brought dead. His body was later shifted to Ramaiah Hospital for post mortem, the police added. Himanshu was treated for minor injuries and was discharged. “Since the bike rider was under the influence of alcohol, he has been booked for culpable homicide not amounting to murder and has been remanded to judicial custody,” said a senior police officer. Devanahalli police have registered a case and are investigating.
