Hunt continues to trace accused Bangladesh cricketer Shahadat Hossain and his wife

The duo are frequently changing locations, making task for police difficult

Mumbai: Bangladesh police will seek help from detectives to trace the whereabouts of Shahadat Hossain and his wife. The 30-year-old right handed pace bowler Shahadat and his wife Nritto have been hiding ever since being alleged to have tortured the maid servant.

"Our hunt for them is on. We are still not able to find their whereabouts," Munir Islam, the spokesman and detective himself attached with the Dhaka Metropolitan Police, said over the telephone from Dhaka.

"Both are understood to be in Dhaka but they are changing locations and have made our task difficult, but we are hopeful. The police have been successful while dealing with bigger cases than this and it will not be impossible to trace them," another high ranking police official said.

"We have approached the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) but they are also clueless," Islam added.

The police seem to have not been getting as much support and co-operation as they had expected from the BCB. "The best option for Shahadat is to surrender before the court or police and then face the trial," Islam pointed out.

"The search warrant in this case is not required. If he doesn't surrender within a stipulated time, the charge sheet will be framed to begin with the trial."

"Uniformed police is investigating the case but now the police detectives will begin the hunt. In Bangladesh we (the police party) have no provision to hire private detectives," Islam concluded.

Interestingly, Hossain's case is no different to India's former Test cricketer Vinod Kambli, who and his wife also are alleged to have tortured their maid servant in Mumbai recently.
