Hyderabad: Amid the flurry of rains, two women died of lightning on Friday near Gudipalli village of Mahbubnagar district. Two others were injured in the incident and shifted to a hospital.
The monsoon remained active over AP and TS since Thursday. Conditions are favourable for a low pressure in the Bay of Bengal and a low pressure area might form in the coming days, Met office has predicted.
Rains occurred at many places over the two states. In AP, Pamidi mandal in Anantapur reco-rded the maximum rainfall of 8 cm followed by Jupadu Bungalow mandal and Gonegandla mandal in Kurnool and Bhimadole in West Godavari, which recorded 6 cm rainfall each.
In TS, Sultanabad ma-ndal of Karimnagar recorded the maximum rainfall of 6 cm. Moderate showers were recorded at several places. According to weather office, the trough of low runs from Odisha to south Tamil Nadu across coastal AP.
The ‘heavy rainfall’ warning has been extended by next five days for both AP and TS. Heavy rainfall would occur at isolated places in East and West Godavari, Krishna, Guntur, Prakasam, Nellore, Anantapur, Kadapa, Chittoor and Kurnool districts of AP.
As the Narayanpur reservoir reached its full capacity of 492.050 metres, two gates were opened and 17,600 cusecs of water was being let out. Nearly 34,150 cusecs of inflow is being received by Jurala.
The Priyadarshini-Jurala project reached its capacity and electricity production started by Friday evening. At Nettempadu, water was let into the lift irrigation canals. From the Jurala backwater, 250 cusecs of water was let into Nettempadu lift-1 and to the Guddem Doddi Reservoir.
