Four, including boy, bitten by stray dog in Kochi

The dog attacked the boy when he was on the way to school
KOCHI: In yet another incident of the stray dog menace in Kochi, four persons including a six year old child, was bitten by a stray dog on Friday.
The dog went wild in Puthuvype near here attacking passersby on Thursday night and Friday morning. Irate local residents later killed the dog.
The six year old school student, Muhammad Aman, son of Rafeeq of Cheruparambil House south Puthuvype suffered injuries and admitted in Ernakulam government general hospital. The dog attacked the boy when he was on the way to school.

The stray also attacked Sisi, aged 45, a conductor in a private bus and Preetha, a housewife. Another person was bitten by the stray on Thursday night. It was not sure whether the dog was suffering from rabies.
With this, the number of persons who suffered stray dog attack rose to 10 in the district in this week. The incidents of stray dogs attacking humans in and around the city have gone up in the recent past.
Although the Kochi Corporation had initiated animal birth control programme to check the spurt in the number of stray dogs, it has not made any discernable improvement in the situation.
