Earrings go solo
There’s something comforting about things that come in pairs, but there’s strength and beauty in something so uniquely singular. Mono, asymmetric, solo — call them whatever you like — the single statement earrings are a great way of wearing statement pieces in a casual, less overpowering way.
Choose an earring that is discreet enough to not overwhelm, but statement-making enough to stand on its own.
Go rebel-chic with something punk, like a single cross or a huge spike. Something that’s flowy, crazy and colourful will also do — think beads, beads and more beads — tell the world that you’re a free spirit. A single peacock feather earring will make you an honorary hippie.
The trend is prevalent in both fine and costume jewellery. Whatever your style, there are many ways to wear it — from crystal-covered styles to studded hoops. And perhaps, to balance things out and to avoid repeatedly clarifying that what you’re wearing is a deliberate “look,” you can wear it with another simple stud on the other earlobe, or style your hair in a side-swept style for a more dramatic effect.
