Narendra Modi, Sonia Gandhi slugfest is on

People will judge the “asli dagabaaz” who didn’t keep promises, says Congress

New Delhi: Strongly hitting back against Congress president Sonia Gandhi’s ‘hawabaazi’ (empty talk) barb against him, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday alleged that ‘scamsters are unnerved’ due to the tough stance of the Government on black money and are putting ‘roadblocks’ in the reforms agenda.

Ms Gandhi on September 8 had said that the PM has been ‘reduced to unedifying flip flops’ and most of his poll promises were nothing more than ‘hawabaazi’ (empty talk).
Launching a counter attack on the Congress president, Mr Modi said the ‘hawalabaaz’ (scamsters) are seeking answers from him even as his government has plugged leakages in schemes and enriched the nation’s coffers.

Addressing BJP workers in Bhopal, Mr Modi said Congress was resorting to ‘disruptive tactics’ as it was not being able to come to terms with its defeat in 2014 Lok Sabha polls.
Angry at Prime Minister Mr Modi’s attack on Sonia Gandhi, Congress on Thursday shot back, saying people will judge the “asli dagabaaz” who did not keep the promises he made to the people.

“The country will judge who is “hawabaaz” (one who does empty talk) and “dagabaaz” (a betrayer),” Congress chief spokesman Randeep Surjewala told reporters. Surjewala said the Prime Minister had promised before the Lok Sabha polls that the government will deposit '5 lakh in every citizen’s bank account from the black money brought back from foreign tax havens, an assertion that was later termed as mere “jumla” (platitude) by his party president.
