Why rain in Hyderabad is always a pain
Hyderabad: Neither automated repairs nor the manual filling of potholes by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has lasted more than a month.
The municipal corporation had assured citizens that this year, the Python 5000 automated pothole machine would repair the city’s roads with greater efficiency and in lesser time.
Repairs were done as recently as a week ago at several roads in Secunderabad, RTC cross roads, LakdikaPul, Marredpally etc.
“I see the team which repairs roads manually almost every other week in my area. They fix one ragged patch and ignore the other potholes on the same stretch as if the damage is not visible. The quality is clearly very poor as the patch is very dry and never gels with the original road and disappears very soon,” said Naresh, a resident of Musheerabad.
An automated machine was seen on the roads in Secunderabad circle a couple of times, but none of the roads that were repaired is currently in good shape. Sources say that the repairs wear off in less than a week.

GHMC: Climate change? What’s that?
For instance, a machine had filled a few potholes on the West Marredpally stretch, but the roads are now the same as before, ridden with potholes. To make matter worse, heavy rain has left the city roads battered and pot-hole ridden again.
Among the badly damaged roads are Secunderabad, SD Road, Safilguda, Chandrayangutta area, Begumpet near Country Club, Hafeezpet, Jubilee Hills, Narsapur, the Mehdipatnam road towards Masab Tank, Katedhan, Nacharam, Fathenagar, Balanagar, Dargah etc.
The only smooth stretches of the city can be seen either near the Secretariat, the CM’s Camp Office or other main government offices.
