Khairatabad Ganesh laddu to be the biggest ever
The laddu will reach the city on the morning of September 16
Hyderabad: While the height of the idol has come down from 60 feet to 59 feet this year, at 5,600 kg, the Khairatabad Ganesh laddu will be the biggest ever.
The laddu as usual will be prepared at Tapeswaram, by vendor Mr Malli Babu who has been in the business for the last five years.
The laddu will reach the city on the morning of September 16.
In 2013, a 5,000-kg laddu had got spoiled due to the rains and had to be immersed in Hussainsagar. Thus, as a part of the precautionary measures, an umbrella too will be placed above the laddu.
The prasadam, weighing 5,600 kg, is made with 2,250 kg sugar, 1,500 kg Bengal gram dal, 1,100 kg pure cow ghee, 380 kg cashew nuts, 90 kg badam, 30 kg cardamom and 10 kg edible yellow camphor.
On September 9, a Ganesh idol was installed at the kitchen and the boondi preparation will begin from Saturday.
On September 14, the laddu will be prepared and decorated with cashew paste on Tuesday night. It will be despatched on September 15 night and reach the city on September 16, a day before the festival.
An umbrella will be installed above the prasadam to protect it from rain.
The total cost of the laddu is Rs 18 lakh, the vendor has been voluntary providing prasadam since 2010.
The immersion of all the Ganesh Idol will be held on September 27. The Khairatabad Ganesh will move for immersion that day but will be immersed on the morning on September 28.
