Tamil Nadu: Canadian company to recycle waste oil into fuel
Eidem said his company is planning to set up its first plant in Tamil Nadu
CHENNAI: NULIFE Fuels, a Canadian renewable energy company, has proposed to set up a plant to recycle waste oil into bio-diesel in Tamil Nadu.
“We have technology to transform hazardous waste oil into B100 High Speed Diesel (HSD) which exceeds Bharat 3 standards,” Brock Eidem, director, NULIFE Fuels told Deccan Chronicle.
Nulife has the only patent pending technology in the world that transforms waste oil into B100 diesel, he said, noting that the plant neither produces any hazardous waste by products nor uses water in the refining process.
“With our technology, diesel taken out from the refinery can be directly used in vehicle. It does not require any modification or blending. It will not cause any damage to vehicle,” he said.
“The recycling facility processes 30 million litres of waste oil annually and produces 25 million litres of B100 biodiesel annually. The fuel can be sold to end consumers at retail prices,” he said.
Stating that India offered a good market for waste oil recycling, he noted that India consumed 126 billion litres of diesel and 1.8 billion litres of motor oil annually.
“It creates 1.2 billion litres of waste oil annually. The oil market is witnessing a growth of 75 million litres annually,” he added.
Eidem said his company is planning to set up its first plant in Tamil Nadu.
“We have not decided on the location yet. But Chennai and Coimbatore are the two locations under our consideration,” he said, adding that they decided to invest in the state due to ease of doing business here compared to other states.
When asked about cost of transfer of technology, he said, “It is extremely economical. Period for pay back to the technology is two and half years.”
