Telangana: Minor raped by father rescued from Palem

The case has been registered at the Bijinapally police station

Hyderabad: A minor girl, Jwala (name changed), studying in Class VII, was rescued from her abusive father on Thursday from Palem village of Mahbubnagar.

The girl’s father was allegedly raping her regularly over the last few months and had threatened to kill her if she revealed anything.

Jwala informed her teacher at school recently about her ordeal. Acting on information received, the State Commission for Protection of Child Rights then approached the police to rescue her.

Jwala’s father, who is absconding, has been booked under Sections IPC 376 (rape), 511 (offences punishable with imprisonment for life or other imprisonment), 354(A) (sexual harassment), 498 (A) (cruelty towards partner) and Section 7 and 8 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012. The case has been registered at the Bijinapally police station.

Sub-inspector K. Veera Babu said: “Jwala has been shifted to the Child Welfare Home at Mahbubnagar. Investigation is on and we will nab the father soon. An alert has been sent to nearby police stations also. He is from Rangapur, Pebbair.”

It has been learnt that Jwala’s mother knew about the abuse and the accused used to beat her when she would oppose the rape of their daughter. The kin of the accused also allegedly supported him.

Sources said that when Jwala was about five years old, her mother had shifted to Palem due to the unbearable harassment of her husband, and was residing at her ancestral house and working as a caretaker at a private school in Palem.

But since the last six months, the accused was visiting them and repeatedly abusing the girl. Jwala and her mother have given statements that the accused would repeatedly misbehave with Jwala and make obscene demands like wanting to watch her while she was having a bath or changing clothes.
