No film can surpass Baasha: Superstar Rajinikanth

Public had the opportunity of listening to an emotional speech by Superstar Rajinikanth
After a long gap, the public had the opportunity of listening to an emotional speech by Superstar Rajinikanth, on the occasion of the 90th birthday celebrations of veteran producer and politician RM Veerappan that took place in the city recently. RMV owns the prestigious Sathya Movies banner which has bankrolled many MGR films, and later, Rajini movies including the blockbuster Baasha that is considered as the Superstar’s best by the actor as well his fans.
Rajinikanth started his speech in a nostalgic frame of mind. “When I was in Bengaluru, I used to watch all MGR’s films which were produced by RMV banner. I had never even dreamt of working in his movies as the lead hero later. It was a wonderful experience working in his banner for the film Baasha.”
He added, “I took part in the 125th day celebrations of Baasha and spoke about the bomb blast culture getting a stronghold in the state on that event. The same night RMV sir lost his ministerial berth. I felt very bad, and telephoned him with fear the next day. But he was never angry with me and said that ‘if it has to happen it will happen’.”
The Enthiran star further emphasised the need to stay healthy. “I have heard that RMV sir has never visited a hospital in his life. But I have had terrible experiences after being admitted at hospitals and have undergone that pain. It is my humble advice that those who are above 50 to please exercise daily and remain healthy.”
“People ask me if Kabali, my present film under production, will supersede Baasha. I can vouch that there can be only one Baasha and I doubt if any other movie can surpass it,” he signs off gracefully.
