Aamir ‘suggests’ changes in Katti Batti edit

Aamir Khan suggested alterations to director Nikhil Advani

Nikhil Advani hadn’t signed up for a filmmaking master class when he proposed to show his film Katti Batti to Aamir Khan, but that is what the director ended up getting. Nikhil wanted to show his first cut to Aamir to get his feedback. And since his nephew Imran is part of the film, Aamir took time off his schedule for Dangal to watch the movie and offer his suggestions. The perfectionist that he is, Aamir dived right into the nitty-gritty of it and “recommended” multiple alterations to the film, which Nikhil duly made.

Here’s what Aamir wasn’t very impressed about:

1. Heavy use of English in the film — especially by Kangana. So Aamir suggested that those scenes be dubbed in Hindi.

2. Giving away too much in the promo. Aamir felt that the promos were overexposing the lead pair’s chemistry, so he asked for the dialogues to be replaced by musical score.

3. Too much emotion. He asked the makers to cut down on the emotional content so that the film doesn’t end up being too heavy and boring.
