US Open 2015: Sania Mirza, Martina Hingis march into final
New York: Top seeds Sania Mirza and Martina Hingis stayed on course for their second Grand Slam together as they entered the US Open women's doubles final, here on Wednesday night.
Sania and Martina defeated the Italian 11th-seeded pair of Sara Errani and Flavia Pennetta 6-4, 6-1 in a match that lasted 77 minutes. The Wimbledon champions were tested in the first set, but they began to get back the rhythm in the second and went on to win the set in 28 minutes.
The Indo-Swiss duo will face the winner of the second semifinal between fourth seeds Casey Dellacqua/Yaroslava Shvedova and Anna-Lena Groenefeld/Coco Vandeweghe.
If Sania and Martina do manage to clinch the crown, it will be their second Grand Slam title in two months. They won the Wimbledon title in July when they defeated Ekaterina Makarova and Elena Vesnina 5-7, 7-6 (7/4), 7-5.
