DRDO gets first woman Director-General
J. Manjula has been appointed the first woman director-general of the DRDO
Hyderabad: Osmania University alumnus J. Manjula has been appointed the first woman director-general of the Defence Research and Development Organisation. She will be one of the seven directors-general of the defence equipment maker which is headed by S. Christopher.
Ms Manjula was heading the DRDO’s Defence Avionics Research Establishment since July 2014. Ms Manjula has previously served at the Hyderabad-based Defence Research and Development Laboratory and the Electronics Corporation of India Limited.
Ms Manjula will serve as director-general for Electronics and Communication Systems. This is one of the seven systems groups in the DRDO, each of which is headed by a director-general.
Ms Manjula has vast experience in the field of integrated electronic warfare and has designed fast signal acquisition receivers, high power RF systems, responsive jammers, controller software for various systems inducted in the Army, Navy and the Air Force.
