Telangana seeks details from Aarogyasri on suicides
Health minister Dr C. Laxma Reddy has asked for details from the Aarogyasri Health Care for treating cases of psychiatric counselling wherein patients have attempted suicide. The Hyderabad Psychiatric Society says that most patients do not approach psychiatrists as they can’t afford the treatment.
There has been a long-pending proposal that cases of depression, anxiety disorders and also other mental illnesses be included in Aarogyasri so that patients do not feel the pinch. With the increasing cases of suicides, psychiatrists are once again making renewed efforts to get these included so that people will come forward for treatment.
