Thiruvananthapuram: The cabinet on Wednesday gave the administrative sanction for the light metro projects in Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode. At the cabinet briefing, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said that the state government would write to the centre seeking in-principle approval for the project soon.
“We have modified the letter sent to the centre earlier. The two additions are administrative sanction and in-principle approval. Once we get in-principle approval from the centre, the remaining decisions required for implementing the project will be taken subsequently,” he added.
He said the light metro projects would be implemented on the lines of Kochi Metro. The Kochi Metro project was carried out by the DMRC and it would be the same in this case as well, he added.

The cabinet decided to sign an MoU for the takeover of ESI medical college, Paripally. The ownership of the hospital will remain with the government on lease term for 99 years. Out of the total cost of Rs 540 crore as part of the takeover, so for Rs 321 crore had been spent. Eighteen non-teaching posts created in Kannur University.
