Probe under Vienna convention, says police
New Delhi: The Saudi Embassy issued a statement terming them as “false” and said it has protested over the police intrusion into a diplomat’s house which is against “all diplomatic conventions”. It also drew the MEA’s attention to the “unwarranted media briefings before the investigations are complete”.
Saudi ambassador to India Saud Mohammed Alsati and some of his staff met senior MEA officials to register their protest. The Saudi Embassy said it would wait for a clarification from the MEA on the matter and the outcome of the investigations into the allegations.
The Gurgaon Police on Wednesday night sent a detailed report to the MEA. Police Commissioner Navdeep Singh Virk, said the probe would be undertaken in accordance with the Vienna convention as the official enjoys diplomatic immunity.
