Superstar Rajinikanth to play Tiger of Mysore?
Karnataka based MLA-producer Ashok Kheny, on his dream of roping in Rajinikanth for his biopic Tipu Sultan
Even as the buzz surrounding Rajini’s Kabali is yet to subside, the latest news about superstar is creating ripples! Rajinikanth is all set to play Tipu Sultan aka Tiger of Mysore, who ruled Mysore, recognised as one of the greatest South Asian rulers of all time. He was also a renowned scholar and poet. And the man behind this mammoth effort is none other than Ashok Kheny, the distinguished MLA from Karnataka.
Reportedly, it was Kheny’s long cherished dream to make a film on Tipu Sultan. The politician-producer who earlier made the successful film Prasad with Action King Arjun Sarja, which was also screened at Berlin Film Fest, says that he has been trying to realise his dream, but things got postponed in one way or other. However, now he is determined to pursue it seriously.
Speaking at a recent function Kheny had said, “Yes, it is true that I am planning to cast Rajinikanth in my forthcoming biopic Tipu Sultan. I had approached Rajini sir earlier, but unfortunately, he was unwell that time and we could not discuss the details of the project then. I want to continue my efforts. I will meet Rajinikanth soon to discuss about this historical project that will bring name and fame for Karnataka.” Ashok Kheny aims to make his film with a mammoth budget on par with international standards.
