Spectrum trading in all bands gets approval
Cabinet gave nod to spectrum trading to allow telecom operators to sell radiowaves to each other to deal with the problem of spectrum scarcity
New Delhi: The cabinet gave nod to spectrum trading to allow telecom operators to sell radiowaves to each other to deal with the problem of spectrum scarcity and improve telecom services to the consumer.
This allows better spectrum usages as the idle spectrum from the hands of one service provider gets transferred to the other service provider who is facing spectrum crunch. This also improves customer satisfaction and services of the service provider acquiring spectrum. “The ownership right will be with the government of India. We give right of use to operators through auction. That right of use can be traded between two service providers,” telecom minister said.
