Big Chinese firms to invest in India
Huawei India CEO Jay Chen said that he has been meeting various Chinese business delegations in the last couple of months
New Delhi: Chinese firms are looking to invest in India as the communist nation battles a slowdown. Chinese telecom giant Huawei India CEO Jay Chen said on Wednesday that he has been meeting various Chinese business delegations in the last couple of months who are exploring the opportunity to invest in India.
“Mr Modi had round table meeting in Shanghai especially with first class entrepreneurs. The meeting was quite good. After the meeting many Chinese businessmen seem to come to India and explore business opportunity in India,” said Mr Chen during a business conference organised by The Economist. In the last 15 years, Chinese investments in India has been just $600 million. This when the trade deficit with China is estimated at $45 billion in 2014-15.
“Even this weekend I met a Chinese business group which is from Beijing. In last couple of month many Chinese businessman are positively thinking coming to India this is a big change,” said Mr Chen. He said that Wanda Group Co (China's largest commercial property company) and Huaxia are two of large Chinese company which are looking to invest in India.
