Woman who sought $ 50,000 for being impregnated by black man's sperm loses lawsuit

Washington: A lesbian mother, who had sued a sperm bank after she was accidentally impregnated by a black man's sperm, has lost her case as it lacked 'legal merit'. She had demaned 50,000$ in damages.

According to reports, the main contention raised by Jennifer Cramblett was that she was unprepared to raise an African-American child, and that her family, 'unconsciously insensitive', might not be accepting of the child.

Jennifer cannot enrol her child in an all-white school, and getting her daughter's haircut was a particularly stressful owing to the child's typical African-American hair, reports quoted Jennifer's lawyers as saying. Getting her daughter a decent hair cut demanded her to be taken to black neighbourhoods, far from her home, where she is not overtly welcome, it added.

The sperm bank owned up to the mix-up, where Jennifer and her partner Amanda Zinkon had chosen a white man's sperm, but instead were given a black man's sperm. In addition to an apology, the couple were also refunded part of the cost. But Jennifer's law suit alleged that the mix up caused her and her family stress, pain, suffering and medical expenses, and that she also feared that their three-year-old daughter would grow up feeling like an "outcast" among their predominantly white community.
