Union Home minister Rajnath Singh feels India target of anti-nationals
HM says Modi government to make India $7trn economy
Hyderabad: Union home minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday said anti-national forces were trying to destabilise India’s growing economy by targeting major strategic installations. He also drew attention to the growing threat of cyber terrorism.
Addressing the passing out parade of CISF cadets at the National Industrial Security Academy in Hyderabad, he said CISF officers will have to thwart these attacks. The minister said the Centre was taking steps to increase the strength of the force from 1.36 lakh to an estimated 2 lakh. The number of women in the paramilitary force would also be increased.
“At present, the share of women is just 5.04 per cent. Like in Union Territories, in all paramilitary forces, women will be recruited by providing 33 per cent reservations,” he added. He said that the force would have to improve its core competence in new areas of crime, like cyber crime, as the world was becoming digital. “Anti-national forces are trying to hack our networks, Wi-Fi and even CCTV cameras. But I have been told that the CISF personnel have been trained to tackle this menace too,” he said.
The minister also wondered why anyone would resort to terror strikes against a peace-loving country like India, which was the only country that propagated the spirit of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (the entire world is a family)”.
Sixty-six assistant commanders and 459 sub-inspectors passed out from the National Industrial Security Academy on Tuesday. “India was one of the biggest emerging economies with a $2-trillion economy and the Modi government would make it a $7-trillion economy in the next five to eight years,” the minister said.
