TRS likely to have working president
Hyderabad: With TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao getting busy in governing the state and administrative matters, the need for a working president for the party is gaining ground.
Though panchayat raj and IT minister K.T. Rama Rao’s name was in circulation for some time, it is now being said that home minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy is being considered for the post.
Sources said Mr Narasimha Reddy would be appointed working president after a reshuffle of the Cabinet, where he and four others are likely to be replaced.
For the past few days, TRS MP K. Kavitha’s name, too, is doing the rounds. But senior leaders dismiss her chances.
“To the best of my knowledge and information, the home minister is tipped for the post. This may happen early next year, along with the Cabinet reshuffle. The CM is monitoring the performance of ministers and he may draft some for party work and give a chance to others,” a TRS MLC told DC.
Government chief whip Koppula Eshwar and several other senior party MLAs are waiting for Cabinet berths.
Asked about Ms Kavitha’s chances, he said there is no such proposal. In fact, she has made no bones of joining the Union Cabinet if she gets a chance.
Mr Narasimha Reddy, a senior TRS man and a labour leader, is a trusted aide of the CM but is said to be facing health issues.
“If CM decides to appoint a working president, which is needed in view of his busy schedule, to strengthen the party, I feel Narasimha Reddy may be brought in,” said another senior TRS leader.
Ever since the CM took over the reins of the state and other senior leaders got Cabinet profiles, there are no important leaders to meet party cadre and redress their grievances.
