Remove obstacles for Ganesh: Chief secretary Rajiv Sharma
Hyderabad: With the Metro Rail works at Moazzamjahi Market junction — which is also the main route of the main Ganesh immersion procession — leading to traffic jams, chief secretary Rajiv Sharma on Tuesday asked for the road to be repaired three days before the Nimajjanam on September 27.
Mr Sharma, in a meeting with Hyderabad Metro Rail managing director N.V.S Reddy, GHMC commissioner Somesh Kumar and commissioner of Hyderabad police M. Mahender Reddy, made it clear that all works related to road repairs and improvements along the Nimajjanam routes must be completed on priority.
He also asked for removal of construction material lying on the footpaths along the Moazzamjahi Market route.
The chief secretary also advised officials to shift utilities such as streetlights and electric poles on the stretches were the Metro Rail work was finished.
L&T project director P. Naidu, who attended the meeting, assured that all material would be removed before the immersion procession.
L&T sources said work on the pillars was close to completion, and other works relating to the viaduct would be taken up after September 27.
The Hyderabad Metro Rail, meanwhile, said 73 private properties and 23 government land parcels needed to be acquired.
Mr N.V.S Reddy said, “We are working on the acquisition process. In the completed station areas, we have to prepare a progress chart of the different sub-works which are yet to be completed.”
