Still waiting for my big break: Randhirr Reddy
Apart from the lead pair of Sai Dharam Tej and Regina Cassandra, watch out for Randhirr Reddy when the film Subramanyam For Sale releases on September 24.
“The story starts with Regina and I, and then Sai enters,” says Randhirr. “I am looking forward to this film’s release as it is a big project for me,” he adds.
After making his debut with Sekhar Kammula’s Happy Days nearly eight years ago, Randhirr has been busy in the industry. “But I am still waiting for my big break,” he says.
After Happy Days, he had been approached to play the lead in a few films, but he had declined. “I am in for the long haul here. That’s why I didn’t accept the lead roles at that time. Because in this industry, if your films fails, you have to go back home,” he says, adding, “More than that, I wanted to be an actor and didn’t want to stick to a particular type of role. I wanted to act in all genres.”
A native of Warangal, Randhirr completed his schooling and graduation in Hyderabad. “When Sekhar Kammula advertised for Happy Days, I just dropped my profile. That’s how I entered films,” he says.
After that, he acted in films like Mr Medhavi, Yuvatha, Baanam, Pilla Zamindar and Basanthi. Randhirr was also supposed to act in Pawan Kalyan’s Sardar Gabbar Singh but he missed out due to date issues.
“Though it’s been a long while, director Harish Shankar remembered me and offered a good role in Subramanyam For Sale. He has also promised to give me another good role in his upcoming film,” says Randhirr.
He has got a few Tamil films too. “I just completed a Tamil film and got another one. They approached me after seeing my work here. It’s very nice to work here and there,” says Randhirr.
“From Sekhar Kammula to Harish Shankar, all my directors have been my teachers. When I joined films, I didn’t know anything about camera, film or techniques. It’s always a learning experience and every film is new for me. I believe in my talent and I work hard,” he says.
This year has been good for the actor as six of his films are ready to hit the screens and a few more are under production. “Yes, it’s going to be busy for me from now on. I am looking forward to some exciting roles,” concludes Randhirr.
