Ram Charan vs Mahesh Babu
The Tamil hit Thani Oruvan has generated a lot of buzz in the Telugu film industry. In some sections of the media, it was reported that Ram Charan was interested in doing the remake of the film in Telugu.
Directed by M. Raja, the film stars Jayam Ravi and Nayanthara as the lead pair with Aravind Swamy playing an important character. Though Charan is interested in the project, the director has other plans.
“Raja held a special screening of the film for Mahesh Babu on Sunday and the actor liked it very much. But Mahesh Babu hasn’t given his commitment yet,” says a source.
The director is keen to direct the Telugu remake as well and wants to rope in Mahesh for it. Moreover, the audience likes Mahesh as a police officer on screen as his earlier films like Pokiri and Dookudu were blockbusters.
In this film too, the main character is that of an IPS officer, so director Raja is very keen to sign up Mahesh for this film.
On the other hand, Mahesh is supposed to start shooting for his next, Brahmotsavam, from September 20. Also, Mahesh is known to not be keen on doing remakes, but he liked this film very much.
“After Srimanthudu became a blockbuster, the actor is looking for innovative subjects. Hence, he is thinking about this film. He may decide in a few days,” adds the source.
