Three-day National inter-district Junior Athletics Meet ends in Visakhapatnam
Visakhapatnam: The three-day Shriram Properties 13th National inter-District Junior Athletics meet concluded here on Monday with Nagaraj Adiga of Shriram Properties announcing cash prizes to all medal winners of the meet.
Haryana state boys stole the show on the last day with Haryana boys Under-16 winning all the medal in 1,000 mts race. Ravi from Panipat clocked 2:41.64 to strike gold medal in the event. Shankar from Rohtak district and Ankit from Jind district clocked 2:41.67 and 2:41.68 to grab the silver and bronze medal respectively.
In Girls U-16 1,000-mts, Amrita Patel from Varansi grabbed the gold medal by clocking 3:09.03. Ankita Chahal from North Delhi district won the silver in 3:10.87 and D. Jyothika Sri from West Godavari (AP) settled for bronze with a timing of 3:11.44
Girls U-16 long jump rescheduled from September 6 due to rain was conducted in the morning session. Manisha Merel from Sundargarh (Orrisa) leaped to a distance of 5.08 mt to become champion of the event.
Laura N from Thoothukudi (TN) took the silver with a jump of 5.01 mt and B. Toommy from Bangalore Urban district reached to 4.93 mt to secure the bronze in the event. Jhajjhar boy Ravinder won the gold medal breaking old meet record of his own state-mate in the boys U-16 Javelin throw event.
Ravinder sent his implement to a distance of brilliant 63.65 mt improving the old meet mark by almost 2 mts. The old meet record of 61.62 mt was on the name of Neeraj Chopra from Palwal set in 2012. Himalaya Singh from Dehradun with a throw of 55.60 mt finished second on the podium and Rohit Yadav from Jaunpur (UP) threw 55.58 mt to win the bronze.
In boys U-16 100-mt hurdles, Ajeet Kumar from New Delhi clocked 15.16 to strike the gold medal. Second and third place were grabbed by the boys of Cuddalore district of Tamil Nadu state. A. Raja clocked 15.20 and J. Jude clocked 15.32 to win silver and bronze medal in the event respectively.
Whereas in girls U-16 100-mt hurdles, Abigail Arokian from Kollam (Kerela) clocked 16.10 to finish on the top of the podium. P. Hemashri from Chen-nai clocked 16.52 and Gurdeep Kaur clocked 16.53 for the silver and bronze medal respectively. High jump boys U-16 champion was from Trissur district of Kerala.
Anandhu K.S. scaled 1.89 mt to grab the gold medal in the event followed by Shahnawaz from East Delhi who won the silver scaling 1.83 mt. Gurjeet, belonging to Jind district of Haryana, scaled 1.80 mt to secure bronze.
Jyoti from Bhiwani (Haryana) finished on the top of the podium in girls U-16 discus throw event. Jyoti sent her implement to 27.94 tm to become champion of the event. Shivani from Meerut with a throw of 26.33 mt won the silver medal and Mamoni Das from Chandan Nagar (WB) with a throw of 25.38m finished third on the podium.
In boys U-16 discus throw Jinjavadiya Bipin from Gandhinagar (Gujarat) sent his implement to 39.36m grabbing the gold medal in event. Susil Abishake A from Thoothukudi (Tamil Nadu) with a throw of 39.18m stood second and Bhaskar from North West Delhi secured the third position with his best effort of 38.80m.
Helan Saji from Idukki (Kerala) won the gold medal in girls U-16 high jump event. She comfortably cleared the height of 1.52m to become champion of the event. Jalpaiguri’s (West Bengal) Krishna Roy secured the silver medal clearing the height of 1.49m and Pratibha Kumari from Seraikela-Kharsawan (Jharkhand) scaled 1.46m to secure the bronze medal.
Sunil Vatas from Narmada (Gujrat) storms to the finish line to become champion in boys U-14 100m race. He clocked 11.80s to grab the gold medal. Rajat from South Delhi clocked 11.82s for the silver and Y. Hari Krishna from Rangareddy (Telangana) got bronze clocking 11.85s. Whereas in girls U-14 100m, Pujari Chaarvi from Thane district strike the gold medal by crossing the finish line in 13.38s. Deepali Gandotra from New Delhi clocked 13.49s to finish second on the podium and Ragashivani from Chennai secured the bronze medal in 13.55s.
In boys U-16 100m race Bhagyesh Sakha from Nashik strikes gold by crossing the finish line in 11.53s. Aditya Raj from Seraikela-Kharsawan clocked 11.56s for silver medal and Shanker Singh from Sundargarh (Odisha) clocked 11.75s for the third position in the event. Whereas in girls U-16 100m final, Rajasree Prasad from North 24 Parganas emerged as the champion of the event. She clocked 12.75s to strike the gold. Bangalore Rural’s Daneshwari clocked 12.86 and R. Giridharani from Chennai clocked 13.01 for the second and third position respectively.
UP boys secured two place on the podium in boys U-16 200m race. Rohit Kumar from Barabanki clocked 23.54s to strike the gold and Dibyendu Acharya from Fatehabad clocked 23.57s to win the bronze. Krishna Yadav from Siliguri won the silver medal clocking 23.55s to push his rival to third position. In girls U-16 200m race it was Prakriti Bepari from Hooghly (West Bengal) who became the champion of the event. She clocked 27.10s for the gold medal. Sanjana Chandra from Udaipur (Rajasthan) settled for a silver position with a timing of 27.52s and Evangeline from Bangalore Urban secured the bronze medal clocking 28.03s.
