Telangana Rashtra Samithi set to clarify on Telangana projects
Hyderabad: The TRS has decided to launch a counter offensive against the Opposition onslaught on the Pranahita-Chevella and Palamuru-Ranga Reddy lift irrigation schemes.
Ministers T. Harish Rao and P. Mahender Reddy convened a meeting of elected representatives besides party leaders and explained salient features of the projects and how the Opposition parties were trying to distort facts. Senior officials from various departments also attended the meeting.
Mr Harish Rao said the government was redesigning the projects to benefit the people and the state unlike the previous Congress regimes which had siphoned off huge amounts in the name of mobilisation advance and other irregularities.
“You have to counter the Opposition propaganda effectively and explain to people the good decision of the government. Irrigation projects should benefit people but not contractors and middlemen,” Mr Harish Rao said.
Meanwhile, TRS MP Balka Suman lashed out at the Congress for shedding crocodile tears for farmers.
“What did the Congress do when it was in power for 10 years? There were a spate of farmers’ suicides and the conditions remained precarious till the TRS formed government. We have taken up several measures in the past 17 months and fulfilled many of the promises including wavier of farm loans,” he said
