Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis begins 4-day Japan tour
Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday embarked on a four-day visit to Japan where he will inaugurate a memorial and statue of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar and also hold consultations with captains of Japanese trade and commerce for investment opportunities back home.
Mr Fadnavis is accompanied by top officials of Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC), Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) and Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) as well as Industries Minister Subhash Desai, on the trip.
State Social Justice Minister Rajkumar Badole and RPI(A) president Ramdas Athawale will participate in the function to inaugurate the Ambedkar statue at Koyasan University, in Mount Koya, Wakayama Prefecture, Japan, on September 10.
They will also be present during the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University and the Koyasan University.
Mr Fadnavis is also scheduled to meet leaders and businessmen in Tokyo and Osaka where he will pitch for Japanese investments in India.
A Maharashtra state investment promotion seminar will also be organised by MIDC and Japan External Trade Organization (Jetro).
