Lingamaneni estate is illegal, says CPI

State government planned to sell land to foreign organisations

Anantapur: Communist Party of India (CPI) state secretary K. Ramakrishna pointed out that the residence of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu at Lingamaneni Estate built on Krishna river bed area is an unauthorised construction. It is ironical that he resides there but speaks on illegal constructions across Krishna river.

Mr Ramakrishna, speaking to newsmen here on Monday, observed that irrigation minister Devineni Umamaheswar Rao was repeatedly speaking on illegal constructions closer to Krishna river bed, but the Chief Minister had a house warming function to his residence. He reiterated that there is a large scale of land acquisition in lakhs of acres and the state government planned to sell it to foreign organisations.

"Though, there is no need of large scale of land banks, the government intends to hand over it to foreign companies in the state."

The CPI state secretary says his party planned to take a delegation to Delhi from AP to mount pressure for special category status. Reacting to the recent resolution by the AP Assembly seeking special category status, Mr Ramakrishna observed that there is no point was mentioned in the resolution about the 16-month delay as both ruling and Opposition parties fear PM Narendra Modi.

Extending support to the students of Rayalaseema region, the CPI leader demanded that the state government should stop implementation of GO 120 that has an adverse impact on the students of Rayalaseema region.

"Instead of working on farmers' woes, the CM was neglecting seriousness of drought and rain deficit conditions," the CPI leader alleged and further demanded that the government announce list of drought-hit mandals to implement special packages for farmers and farm labourers.
