Drones banned in Hyderabad
Hyderabad: With intelligence agencies warning of terrorist attacks in the city, the Hyderabad police has banned the use of para gliders, remote controlled drones and remote controlled micro light aircraft.
Of late the city has witnessed an increase in the use of remote controlled drones by event managers for live telecast and photographing events. The orders will remain in force from September 8 to October 7.
“It is necessary to impose reasonable checks on antisocial elements to prevent attacks using remote-controlled drones, para gliders or remotely-controlled microlight aircraft,” said Hyderabad police commissioner M. Mahender Reddy in a press release.
As per the orders remote-controlled drones, para gliders, and remote-controlled micro light aircraft will not be allowed without police permission in writing.
The orders also prohibit non-government agencies and individuals from using Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) and Unmanned Aerial Survey (UAS) vehicles.
“Government agencies and organisations should obtain clearance from the police and aviation authorities before using UAS or UAV for any purpose,” the commissioner added.
