Coimbatore: Creepy crawler found in popular biscuit brand
COIMBATORE: While a dead cockroach was found in a popular brand of chocolate bar purchased in Coimbatore last Monday, it was now a bug that was found in a popular biscuit brand a favourite with children for many years.
N.Baasah (32), who runs a juice shop near his house at Sivanandhapuram, here bought a 'Britannia Milk Bikis' packet worth Rs 10 and when he opened it found a bug in the biscuit.
He immediately rushed to the district collector's office and took it to the food safety officer to show the infested pack.
He also lodged a complaint with the concerned department.
Meanwhile, the food safety department of the Coimbatore corporation has filed a case against the KFC outlet on D.B. road after a businessman, Yasser Arafat, found wriggly worms in the ‘chicken tikka’ he bought on June 27 last year.
Last month, a resident of Singanallur came to the collectorate with a sealed bottle of honey with a fly floating in it.
There have also been complaints of bugs found in the baby foods of Nestle too close on the heels of the ban on the Maggi noodles recently.
