24/7 CCTV to boost security in Hyderabad
Hyderabad: Union minister Mr M. Venkaiah Naidu said on Monday that Corporations should seek suggestions from people as to what projects should be executed.
For security of citizens, he said that he had directed the state law and order department to launch an online facility for lodging FIRs so that people would not have to go to police stations. There would also be round-the-clock CCTV surveillance.
It will be made mandatory for all corporations to have an advanced early warning, detection system and audio announcement facility in prominent public places to inform people in case of emergencies, he said.
“Hussainsagar development in Hyderabad is a classic example of increasing resources, the municipal corporation has made use of the land around it by creating recreation space through which huge revenues are being generated, other states should adapt this,” the minister said.
Cities should plan projects without destroying their heritage, similar to Barcelona. People will be willing to pay provided the corporation follows a transparent process by involving all stakeholders. The ratio of revenue generation and expenditure must be balanced. This mission is to benefit 42 per cent of India’s urban population, said Mr Venkaiah Naidu. The Centre has asked the states to come up with their own projects on priority basis and funds will be released for the same. Additional loans will be provided based on the performance of the local bodies.
