RSS meet was think tank, no review held, says Rajnath Singh
New Delhi: Faced with criticism of the government for seeking appraisal from the RSS conclave held in the national capital, Union home minister Rajnath Singh described the meeting between the Union ministers and the leaders of the saffron outfit as a kind of “think tank”. He denied that the government sought any appraisal from the RSS conclave.
Mr Singh rejected the Opposition charge that the RSS is running the government. “We discussed all issues concerning the country. There were exchange of views on economy, education, culture, national security and social harmony. It was a think tank which discussed all issues,” Mr Singh said. He maintained that there was no appraisal or review of the government. “There was no appraisal of the government. There was no discussion performance of the government,” he added.
Rejecting the Opposition barb that the RSS is running the NDA government, Mr Singh said, “There is no truth in it. It is completely baseless.” Meanwhile, Mr Singh called upon the Opposition to cooperate to pass the proposed GST Bill in Parliament. He, however, did not clarify if the government would call a special session of Parliament. “I appeal to the opposition to cooperate so that we can pass the GST Bill in Parliament,” he added.
