Vijayawada: Junior tries to rape BDS student
Vijayawada: A 23-year-old native of Hyderabad of the government dental college here on Sunday lodged a complaint with the Patamata police, accusing one Pampana Sridhar, 25, a third year student of the same college, of trying to rape her after beating her up.
The alleged incident took place at around 2.30 am on Sunday. In her complaint, the girl, a final year student, said that Sridhar barged into her rented room near the college at Srinivasanagar, Bank Colony, and tried to rape her.
“She was alone in the room at that time. In her complaint she said that Sridhar forced her way into her room and tried to rape her. When she resisted, he beat her up,” said Patamata inspector K. Damodar.
“Sridhar is a native of Kakinada. He was a batchmate of the victim when they were studying in a college in Kakinada earlier. He was detained and is now junior in the dental college now. He stalked the victim several times in the college,” he said.
Following the complaint, police booked Sridhar under Sections 452, 354C, 376 read with 511 of IPC.
“The accused claims that he hit her since she had an affair with someone else. We have sent the victim for medical examination,” the police said.
