GUNTUR/ONGOLE/NELLORE/KRISHNA: Lightning accompanied by heavy rains led to as many as 23 deaths in AP. Lingala Venkata Subbamma, 65 and her son, Venkata Ramana, 30, were working in the fields in Ganugapenta village of Tarlupadu mandal when they were struck.
Two men, Satish, 21, and U. Chenna Reddy, 35, died in Markapuram mandal Marripudi mandal respectively. A father-son duo, Sydu Venkata Rao, 34, and Sydu Kumar, 9, died in Venkatachalam mandal of Nellore district. The district also reported the death of two shepherds — K. Prasad, 30, of Kadavalur mandal and Chinna Venkaiah, 60, of Bogole mandal. In Krishna district, K. Jangulu and D. Giri died while death of one person was reported in Killipalem area in Srikakulam district. A farmer M. Adinarayana, 50, was struck by lightning while he was on his way to his fields.
