Hyderabad: Downpour spurs virus transfer
Hyderabad: The virulent weather since the last two days, with strong winds, has increased cases of viral flu in the city.
In the last one week, cases of flu have increased because of high afternoon temperatures and chilly nights. The Fever Hospital is seeing more than 150 cases daily in the out-patient department.
Superintendent Dr Shankar K., explained, “The increase in the cases is because people are moving out for work even if they are suffering leading to easy passage of viral infection from one person to another. Also, people working in AC offices transmit it very easily.” At the same time, wind transmits the virus very easily from one area to other. A senior pulmonologist said that the season for influenza had begun and those suffering from heart disease, diabetes and other cardiovascular diseases can consult a doctor and opt for pneumonia vaccines. This will also save hospitalisation costs.
