FTII row: SC refuses to entertain plea for judicial intervention to end logjam
There have been protests demanding cancellation of Chauhan's appointment as FTII chairman
New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Monday refused to hear plea for judicial intervention to end logjam at Pune’s Film and Television Institute of India (FTII).
Striking FTII students have been demanding cancellation of Chauhan's appointment as FTII chairman claiming that he lacks "credentials and vision" to head the prestigious institution which is expected to give a direction to the Indian cinema.
Earlier, students sought Prime Minister Narendra Modi's intervention. "Prime Minister should visit FTII to resolve the issues. All students in the country are feeling threatened by the government's insensitivity towards the problems being faced by them," an FSA representative said.
