Air India flight makes emergency landing due to Hydraulic failure, all passengers safe
New Delhi: Over 150 passengers on board a city-bound Air India flight from Varanasi had a close shave as the Airbus 320 plane landed under emergency conditions here due to a hydraulic failure.
After the plane touched down at the Indira Gandhi International Airport here, smoke was seen from under carriage and pilot opted for evacuation, sources said.
"Air India flight AI 405 from Varanasi to Delhi had an emergency landing here as the pilot reported hydraulic failure. All passengers were evacuated safely, however, some 4-5 of them sustained minor injuries during evacuation," airport sources said.
The flight had originated from Khajuraho for Varanasi and from where it took off for Delhi.
Meanwhile, Air India Chairman and Managing Director Ashwani Lohani has said the real cause behind the incident will be known only after a thorough investigation.
As per the usual practice following occurrence of such incidents, aviation regulator DGCA conducts an inquiry besides an internal probe by the concerned airliner.
Lohani, however, insisted as far at the maintenance of the aircraft was concerned "there was no laxity".
