30 per cent self-financing college seats vacant in Kerala
Thiruvananthapuram: As many as 29,941 students have taken admissions to 46,425 seats in private self-financing engineering colleges, as per the admission statistics on engineering colleges affiliated to Kerala Technological University. This meant only 64.5 per cent seats were filled with the rest remaining vacant.
The statistics showed that of the total of 58,165 engineering seats in government, aided, government controlled self-financing colleges and private self-financing engineering colleges, 40,258 seats have been filled. This came to around 70 per cent of the total seats.
As many as 16 colleges recorded 100 per cent admissions. Of them, all nine government colleges and three aided colleges had 100 per cent admissions.
Of the others, two each are private self-financing colleges and government-controlled self-financing colleges. Government colleges have 3,312 seats and aided colleges 1,902 seats.
Of the 6,795 seats in government-controlled self-financing colleges, 5,091 seats have been filled. This came around 74.92 per cent of the total seats.
