Brazilian tattoo artist is turning scars into works of art

Tattoo artist Flavia Carvalho has started a project, "A Pele da Flor” (The Skin of the Flower) to give hurt women tattoos free of charge.
Clearly, we have a long way to go regarding protecting women against violence and this tattoo artist is doing her bit
The tattoos not only help earn back self esteem they are incredible works of art.
Each tattoo seems to act as an instrument for empowerment and a self-esteem booster.
Carvalho says that the idea came to her a few years ago when a client was looking to get a tattoo to cover a large scar on her abdomen.
The best part of this project is that Carvalho does these amazing tattoos for free.
With one tattoo at a time she is changing the lives of domestic violence survivors.
The brave tattoo artist, Flavia Carvalho runs a studio in Curitiba, Brasil.
For two years, Carvalho has helped women cover scars left from knives and bullets, and from mastectomies as well.
