I want to act with Goundamani sir: Sivakarthikeyan

It has been 39 years since noted comedian Goundamani (who ruled the roost from the 80s, to the early 2000s) entered film industry. But seldom has he attended filmy functions in his 39 years of active cinema. The ‘comedy king’ who returns to screens after a long hiatus with the film 49 O, directed by Gautham Menon’s assistant Arokiya Dass was spotted at a promo for the movie. The hall was filled to capacity to hear his humorous talk and among them was actor Sathyaraj who has collaborated with Goundamani in several movies, and Sivakarthikeyan, a big fan of the comedian.
Speaking at the event Siva said, “I am an ardent fan of Goundamani sir. While I was working for Varuttha Padaatha Vaalibar Sangam, I used to ask him about his experiences with Goundamani sir. He would narrate hilarious incidents, and some of them he said he couldn’t even repeat. ‘You have to listen to him to enjoy’ Sathyaraj sir said. Later, I went and met Goundamani and spent two mind-blowing hours with him. He said he has not watched Tamil films for many years. But he made my day saying that he loved my song ‘Oodhaa color ribbon’.
Karthikeyan added that it was Goundamani who really created a ‘comedy trend’ in K’town and that all others including him are rehashing in their films. He also said that he wished that Goundamani and Sathyaraj should come together for a film in which he wants to essay a role.
