VS Achuthanandan demands probe into graft at Consumerfed

The Opposition leader urged the government to take immediate steps to strengthen Consumerfed

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Opposition leader V. S. Achuthanandan has demanded a detailed investigation into corruption in Consumerfed.

He said Congress leaders were engaging in a slanging match to divert attention from corruption and to protect the corrupt.

The Opposition leader urged the government to take immediate steps to strengthen Consumerfed.

Achuthanandan alleged that it was clear that corruption worth Rs 100 crore had taken place in Consumerfed.

Though its chairman Joy Thomas is entirely responsible for the corruption, the UDF leadership, particularly the Congress, was trying to shield him.

The people are facing innumerable problems as corruption had led to complete collapse of Consumerfed, which had badly affected Neethi and Nanma stores. Most of these stores did not function during Onam.
