Tomin Thachankary wants probe dropped

The home department is not having any control in this regard

KOCHI: Consumerfed managing director Tomin Thachankary has approached Chief Minister Oommen Chandy seeking to quash the vigilance probe ordered against him by the home department.

In a hard-hitting letter to the chief minister, Thachankary lashed out at the home minister and the home department and said that the vigilance probe against him was unnecessary and against rules.

The vigilance probe was ordered based on allegations without any substance, he added.

Matters connected with all-India service officers are under the purview of the office of the chief minister, Thachankary told DC.

The home department is not having any control in this regard. The official also confirmed that he had sought protection under the whistleblower Act in connection with the development in Consumerfed.

The decision to shift Thachankary from Consumerfed has been stalled for the time being as the issue snowballed into a major controversy.
