Not emergency landing, says Air Asia
Bengaluru: Two days after the Air Asia’s Pune-Bengaluru, flight number 1427, landed at the HAL Airport on Thursday night as it could not touch down either at the Kempegowda International Airport (KIAB) or at the Chennai Airport, Air Asia authorities clarified that no emergency landing was declared and no passenger’s life was at risk.
They also said that the aircraft had sufficient fuel to travel to Trichy or Chennai. “On being asked to divert, the plane crew requested the Air Traffic Control in Bengaluru to land at the HAL Airport due to its proximity to the KIA. Chennai was not a viable option as the runway was not available."

“Subsequently, the decision to land at the HAL Airport was arrived at as it would be a greener option and would ensure that passengers would reach KIA sooner. On getting the clearance, the pilot diverted the plane to the HAL Airport,” read a mail from Air Asia authorities to Deccan Chronicle.
