KPCC chief VM Sudheeran to intervene to clear Thrissur mess

The meeting of Thrissur DCC office-bearers has been called in the evening after the executive concludes

Thiruvananthapuram: The KPCC will intervene to stem the factional feud in Thrissur DCC following the murder of local leader A. C. Haneefa at Chavakkad.

All eyes are now on Tuesday’s meeting to be attended by PCC chief V. M. Sudheeran and Chief Minister Oommen Chandy. The other day both factions of the Congress had approached the KPCC to find an amicable solution.

The meeting is happening at a time when the KPCC executive has been called by Sudheeran here on Tuesday. The meeting of Thrissur DCC office-bearers has been called in the evening after the executive concludes.

Congress sources told DC that the ‘I’ faction is expected to demand the ouster of O. Abdurahman Kutty from the post of Thrissur DCC president who is attached to the ‘A’ faction.

Their main grouse is that Mr Kutty had been unable to contain the unrest in the DCC. The outcome of the meeting of DCC office-bearers with Congress leadership is going to be crucial.
