Home secretary Rajiv Trivedi challenges notice in tapping case

Abuse of process of law feared

Hyderabad: Telangana principal secretary, home, Rajiv Trivedi, has moved the High Court challenging the notice issued by the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court, Vijayawada, in the alleged phone tapping case registered at Bhavanipuram police station of Vijayawada.

He submitted that the lower court, on August 17, had ordered him to submit various documents and had issued notice on the ground of failure to produce the documents.

He told the HC that the lower court had sent back documents submitted by various telecom service providers without opening the seal covers.

He contended that issuing notice despite stay orders of the HC was nothing but abuse of process of law.

Suspension upheld
A division bench comprising acting Chief Justice Dilip B. Bhosale and Justice S.V. Bhatt has upheld the decision of Shantiram Medical College, Nandyal, suspending P. Gurivi Reddy, prime accused in the hitech mass copying case, from attending classes.

The bench was dismissing an appeal filed by Gurivi Reddy challenging an order passed by a single judge who dismissed his plea against the decision of the college.

The bench observed: “Cases like mass copying ruin the lives of sincere students. People who indulge in such cases deserves no sympathy.”
